The many little acts of support these plants offer remind us of those that we can offer others. Chamomile, Yarrow, and Saffron grow all throughout the mountains, countryside, and often even roadsides of the Apennine peninsula and have long been companions to the common people tending land and doing the care centered and laborious work that sustains populations. Together these plants calm, soothe, hydrate (when used in combination with a hydrosol) and promote cell regeneration. They lend their antibacterial, astringent, and antimicrobial actions, reduce irritation, and help wounds heal through restoration of the skin barrier. Their gentle, sweet, floral, and honey like scent is relaxing for our nervous system and lifts our spirits.

To get the most out of this practice, I suggest applying the oil after bathing while your skin is still damp, and to use in conjunction with a hydrosol to really lock in moisture and add hydration.
